Science writers on campus

Some 300 science writers from the United States and abroad are on campus today and tomorrow (Feb. 13-14) for the annual meeting of the National Association of Science Writers.

The National Association of Science Writers (NASW) members work for major U.S. newspapers, wire services, magazines and broadcast outlets. They also include the public information officers on science from universities, government laboratories and other institutions.

The organization's charter is to "foster the dissemination of accurate information regarding science through all media normally devoted to informing the public."

Among other activities, NASW members at this year's meeting will tour several MIT labs, including the Artificial Intelligence Lab, the Media Lab, the Nuclear Reactor Lab and the Plasma Science and Fusion Center.
